First Time Visits
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals and register at the Patient Registration Desk. Click here to know about the documents required for registration
- After completing the registration process, you can proceed to the consultation rooms for your first consultation. Our patient relations executives and volunteers will be available to support you with the registration process and guide you to the relevant consultation rooms.
- After your consultation, talk to the OPD secretaries to plan and proceed with your investigations (if any) for example, blood tests, scans, etc and schedule your next appointment as per your consulting oncologist's advice.
Consultation Appointments
- Make an appointment through the call centre at Shankara Cancer Hospitals.
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals 30 minutes before your appointment.
- Pay the consultation fees as applicable at the front office. Proceed to the respective department for your appointment.
- After your appointment, talk to the OPD secretaries to plan and proceed with any investigations and schedule your next appointment as per your consulting oncologists’ advice.
- Proceed to the Billing Counter to pay consultation fees.
Cross Referrals
Following your initial consultation, your oncologist may refer you to a specialist from another department for their expert opinion, this is a cross-referral. In such cases, you will be directed to the respective department within the hospital.
- Our team will help you see the referral doctor on the same day, on a priority basis.
- However, in case of delay or unavailability of the consultant, you will be given an appointment for the earliest date and time available by the referred consultant’s OPD secretaries.
Chemotherapy Session Appointments
- Contact the admissions desk to book the daycare or the inpatient ward at least 48 hours before your chemotherapy session. Please check with your medical oncologist if your chemotherapy will be delivered in a single day at daycare wards or will require overnight admission at the in-patient wards.
- In case you are covered by insurance, please discuss with the Insurance Desk in the Billing Department on the ground floor regarding pre-authorisation for your chemotherapy.
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
- Collect your token at the Admission Desk on the Ground Floor and complete the admission process.
- Report to the Daycare Chemotherapy Ward on the Ground Floor with your complete medical file and latest reports. Here, your vitals will be assessed and discussed with your medical oncologist before administering your chemotherapy.
- Before leaving the hospital premises, proceed to the admission counter on the ground floor and make an appointment for the next session.

Radiotherapy Session Appointments
- Radiotherapy requires planning by the radiation oncologists and physicists. After confirmation that you will need radiotherapy, you will need to undergo a scan that will be used by the radiation oncology team to plan your radiotherapy.
- At this point, you will also receive guidance regarding insurance authorization for your radiotherapy, please feel free to discuss your queries with the front desk personnel.
- Please provide the latest, preferred contact number at the Radiation Oncology front desk after your scan as the team will contact you regarding your appointment for the first radiotherapy session once the planning is complete. This is expected to take a few days. In some cases, radiation may commence immediately after the scan.
- Your appointment for the first radiotherapy session will be given based on the availability of the slots and your preference.
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals 15 minutes before your appointment for radiotherapy.
- Report to the Radiotherapy Department in the lower basement (floor -2).
- After your radiotherapy session, confirm the timings of your next session at the Radiotherapy Front Desk.
Surgery Appointments
- After receiving the pre-surgical clearance from the Anaesthesiology team, your surgeon will provide a suitable date for your surgery along with a note confirming the same.
- Contact the admissions desk on the ground floor with the above note to book an inpatient ward for your surgery. This should be done at least 48 hours before your date of admission.
- In case you have to undergo a daycare surgical procedure, please discuss the pre-surgical guidelines with your surgeon’s team. This may include guidance regarding staying on an empty stomach, medicines to be taken or avoided and other precautions.
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals 30 minutes before your admission appointment.
- Report to the admission counter on the Ground Floor.
- You will be allotted a ward and prepared for surgery.
- After your surgery, you will be taken to the post-surgery recovery room / ICU / in-patient ward for observation and recovery.
Diagnostic Tests Appointments - Imaging (PET Scans, MRI), Blood Tests etc.
- Diagnostic tests are often performed on the same day as they are advised on a priority basis.
- In cases where a prior appointment is required for the test, please contact the concerned department’s front desk (for example, Radiology front desk at lower basement for MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound scans or Nuclear Medicine front desk at upper basement for PET CT Scan, PSMA Scan etc)
- You may also contact 080 2698 1000 / 080 4648 4401 for assistance in booking an appointment for a diagnostic test.
- At the time of booking the appointment, please ensure you discuss the preparations and precautions for the test prescribed to you with the Patient Relation Executive of the department.
- Reach Shankara Cancer Hospitals 15 minutes before your appointment.
- Report to the front desk on the ground floor where our patient relations executive will direct you to the respective department for your tests.
- After the tests, you will receive your reports on the Sri Shankara Patient Portal. You can also collect the reports from the report counter, next to the billing desk on the ground floor.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Bring your government-issued ID card. Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License and Indian Passport are accepted.
- The patient’s name in the hospital registration forms should be the same as in the Govt. ID and insurance card for all medico-legal purposes.
- If you want to avail the benefits of the BSKY Health Scheme, it is compulsory to bring your BSKY Card / BSKY NABIN Card.
- Please come with one attender - a family member, relative or a friend; you may require their support during your time at the hospital. Your attender will accompany you and assist you through the day.
- Bring your most recent medical reports - including images / CDs of PET / CT / MRI / USG.
- Bring a notepad where you have noted your health complaints, symptoms, it’s duration, comorbidities and details about your regular medications. You can also note any issues you may have or questions you want to ask our doctors.
- Comorbidities are medical conditions that are simultaneously present such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart disease, Asthma etc.
- When listing your current medications, please mention the dosage (the specific amount of medication) and frequency (taken how many times a day).
- Always tell the doctor the complete details of your medical history including any surgeries done before and allergies to medication or drugs.
- DO NOT HIDE any medical history. By providing a full picture of your medical condition, you enable your doctor to provide you with the best possible treatment.
- In case you are being referred to Shankara Cancer Hospitals, please bring the referral letter from the referring doctor along with all your medical records, scans and insurance documents.

- Upon arrival at the hospital, you can avail of a wheelchair or a stretcher. You can contact the security desk next to the entrance and they will assist you.
- All floors have directories and signages of departmental locations for the convenience of patients. You can always ask a staff member to assist you.
- Approach the registration desk.
- Fill out the patient registration form with the correct spelling and details as per your Government ID and Insurance ID cards.
- After the payment of the one-time registration fee of ₹450/- at the counter, the registration desk executive will issue a unique ID for the patient known as a Medical Record Number or MRN.
- Please ensure the details in the registration form are correct. When in doubt, please approach our front desk executives who are happy to assist you with the registration process. It is a short activity which is important for all medico-legal purposes.
- Once the registration is complete, the front desk executives will guide you to the respective OPD.
- You can book the dates for the treatment procedure in advance at the billing counter.
- You then have to book a ward for inpatient admission at the admissions desk at least 48 hours before the scheduled date of the procedure.
- The details of the wards and their tariffs are available at the admission desk.
- On the day booked for in-patient admission, report to the admission desk on arrival and submit the admission prescription given by the doctor.
- After the admission is done, a patient mobility team member will escort you to the ward in a wheelchair or stretcher based on the requirement.
- For emergency admissions, contact the emergency and admissions teams; the patient’s caregiver will be required to coordinate with the teams.
- In the case of fasting phlebotomy (blood test), please come on an empty stomach. You can visit our canteen after the test for nutritious and tasty food.
- Unless you have been given specific dietary guidelines by our teams, please follow your normal meal schedules on the day of your appointments.
- During your time at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, you can also visit our cafeteria or our canteen within the hospital building for fresh and healthy food.
- During your in-patient stay at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, your meals will be planned by our dietitians as per the advice of your oncologists and customised to suit your nutritional requirements. The dedicated diet kitchen will provide timely and hygienic meals as per your customised plans.
- Carry your regular medicines with you when visiting the hospital. Sometimes the consultations may be prolonged due to recommended diagnostic tests and cross-references.
- For certain medical procedures, you may need to stop specific medications. Talk to your consulting oncologist at Shankara Cancer Hospitals for specific guidance.
- During your time at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, you can also visit our cafeteria or our canteen within the hospital building for fresh and healthy food.
- During your in-patient stay at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, your meals will be planned by our dietitians as per the advice of your oncologists and customised to suit your nutritional requirements. The dedicated diet kitchen will provide timely and hygienic meals as per your customised plans.
DO NOT bring children less than 12 years of age along with you. This is to ensure the safety and well-being of children and our patients.
- DO NOT bring any valuables to the hospital.
- You may be required to remove all your ornaments and jewellery for certain procedures.
- Management shall not be responsible in case of any loss of valuables.
For all Out-Patient appointments, In-Patient admissions, treatment procedures & diagnostic tests, payment can be made through
- Cash (not more than INR 2000 per payment)
- Debit Card
- Credit Card
- UPI - GPay / Paytm / PhonePe / BHIM UPI or any other UPI payment app
- For payment through health insurance policy, please meet our patient relations executive at the Insurance Desk in the Billing Department located on the ground floor.
- For planned admissions, procedures and treatments, please ensure you receive pre-authorisation by your insurance provider.
- A refundable deposit will be collected for all cashless insurance and copayment insurance admissions. The deposit will be returned to the patient’s / caregiver’s bank account once the amount is received by the hospital from the insurance company.
- It is mandatory to pay the copayment sum as per their insurance policy at the time of admission.
- Patients who are not covered by health insurance will have to pay for their treatment through these modes of payment.
- It is mandatory to pay 80% of the total cost estimate at the time of admission which will be balanced against the bill.

In the rare instance that your appointment is cancelled by the team at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, you will be notified on your registered contact number and an alternative appointment will be allotted based on the availability of the doctor and your preference.
