Navigating through grief after the loss of a loved one can feel like traversing a stormy sea, but you're not alone. Bereavement is a natural process, as is emerging from it. You may struggle to find the shore of healing. However, we're here to assure you that reaching that shore is possible, and we're committed to guiding you safely to it.

Please know that grief presents in different ways in different people, there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief can be overwhelming, requiring time to process. It's important to allow yourself to experience and work through the grief, opening yourself to healing. This journey may take its time, as it's a gradual process but you do not have to go through it alone, you can find support around you or seek professional help. 

Below are some ways you can try to cope:

  • Writing down your feelings in a journal or recording voice notes
  • Talking to friends and family
  • Attending support groups
  • Returning to work or a hobby that you may have had to put on hold as a caregiver
  • Finding new interests in music or art can help you socialise and overcome the void

Patients who are in the advanced stages receive care and support to improve the quality of their lives and make them pain-free through palliative or hospice care.

Additionally, we are also dutiful in assisting the family members cope with and accept the sequelae in advanced cancers through our bereavement support amenities.

We have a dedicated team of experts from the Pain and Palliative Care and the Psycho-Oncology departments

  • The Pain and Palliative Care Department follows up with the family members close to the patient to check their well-being and give them emotional and moral support for extended periods, sometimes up to 6 months.
  • The Psycho-Oncology Department provides personalised ‘Bereavement Support and Grief Counselling’ to the bereaved family members based on their needs. Additionally, online counselling sessions are provided when required. This is a need-based service.
