Support Groups

Human resilience is an extraordinary gift. Surviving cancer is a testament to your strength, combining medical, emotional, and psychological efforts. Though fear and doubt may veil your inner strength, sharing your story with others facing similar experiences enables you to collectively rise above these obstacles.

Did You Know?
Shankara Cancer Hospitals regularly conducts peer support groups for patients, caregivers and survivors.

The support group meetings organised by Shankara Cancer Hospitals aim at uniting our patients and survivors and creating a safe space for them to share their experiences with those who have faced or are facing similar cancers and heal the scars they have endured. Our dedicated team works closely with participants, encouraging them to express their concerns and providing vital information to aid in their rehabilitation. Support group meetings cover a spectrum of topics like

  • Nutritional care
  • Post-reconstruction care
  • Body image
  • Prostheses
  • Physiotherapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Returning to normalcy

By sharing your experience in a safe space, you realise you are ‘not alone’ and that there are ‘many’ who are fighting with you! Peer support becomes a powerful tool for managing the emotional toll of cancer treatment that are often experienced by patients and/or caregivers.

  • Learn coping strategies for daily activities
  • Renewed hope and empowerment
  • Gain practical information and resources
  • Reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and distress
  • Improve communication with medical teams and loved ones
  • Build a community of individuals going through a similar journey

At Shankara Cancer Hospitals, we empower survivors through dedicated support groups, committed to restoring hope and reclaiming lives.

Hear it from our patients and survivors who have attended our support group meetings:

The sessions were very informative and interactive. Many post-operative patients attended the meeting and participated in the discussion with open-mindedness and it was very really nice to attend. Many doubts were clarified. Thank you.

Good initiation by the team. People will get a lot of information about the disease. Keep doing it regularly and give awareness to as many people possible.
